Is you Microsoft Office running on Mac not showing the recent open documents? This is one of those annoying things we all face every now and then due to some bugs or damaged software uninstalls. I recently faced this issue on a MacBook Pro running on OS X Yosemite and office 2016. I tried the common troubleshooting steps, apdates, remove application, upgraded to OS X El Capitan, etc. The intestesting thing is that I left some steps out.It was frustrating at times but ensuring the right uninstall procedure is followed for the corresponding version of MS Office. As many small businesses in Norther NJ rely on Macs as their primary platform issues like this are becoming more common, for the right and quick uninstall process follow the MS link, make sure you pay attention to step 5..

Switch back to Column view (COMMAND+3) and click Library > Group Containers and ctrl+click or right-click each of these folders if present, and then click Move to Trash.

WARNING Outlook data will be removed if you move these folders to Trash. You should back up these folders before you delete them.
